About Us:

Founded in 2006 in St. Louis, Missouri, and now with offices in Illinois, StraightUp Solar proudly provides turnkey solar project development to private homeowners and businesses as well as government entities, schools and nonprofit organizations. Within the first 10 years of operation StraightUp Solar has commissioned over 500 new systems approaching nearly six megawatts (MW) of solar capacity and today enjoys a reputation for solar industry leadership across Missouri and Illinois.

Solar energy is not just a job for the team at StraightUp Solar, we take joy in providing a quality educational experience to each new homeowner, business, and organization that goes solar. We base our operations upon our C.L.E.A.R.E. values: Community First, Lead the Solar Tribe, Educate the Solar Lesson, Advocate Always, Respect Others and the Environment, and practice Excellence in All We Do.

StraightUp Solar staff are involved in clean energy philanthropy and advocacy organizations across the globe, including WE CARE Solar, Wings of Hope, the Illinois Solar Energy Association (ASES), and the Missouri Solar Energy Industries Association. As a member of the Amicus Solar Cooperative we actively contribute to a national collective force of like-minded solar companies evolving beyond business-as-usual by developing best practices to transform our shared future for everyone’s greater environmental, economic, and energy security.

Dedication to Community:
Our vision is to inspire a Solar Tribe to create a sustainable world. We are, essentially, a group of Midwesterners compelled to do our part in a growing global and national movement seeking to change the region’s energy and environmental paradigm by demonstrating and delivering for our neighbors and local communities the very real and quality-of-life enhancing sustainable energy, environmental, and economic choices now available to them. In the pursuit of business excellence, the Team at StraightUp Solar continually prioritizes development of lasting partnerships that meaningfully grow the network of solar, renewable energy, and conservation advocates outwards from America’s heartland. Ideally, as the Solar Tribe grows each new member embraces the same goal to in turn inspire others to follow their lead, ultimately creating an unstoppable revolution. In 2015, we were proud to work with the Grow Solar Partnership (consisting of the Midwest Renewable Energy Association, Environmental Law & Policy Center, City of Urbana, & the Illinois Green Economy Network) to launch Solar Urbana-Champaign, the second bulk solar group purchase program in the state of Illinois, after Chicago. The program's success spurred an additional incarnation of the program in the neighboring twin city community of Bloomington-Normal. The bulk solar group buy model has ignited interest in solar energy throughout the state and proven to local home, business owners, & nonprofits alike that through community cooperation, it is possible to reduce the soft costs in solar PV installation and make high-quality solar energy available and affordable.
