Innovative Power Systems

Quick Info
Our mission is simple, to save money for our customers and lead the local transition away from fossil fuels toward renewable power. Our vision is a future free from the drastic and harmful effects of climate change while reducing Minnesota’s energy deficit. Currently our state spends $20,000,000,000 each year to import fuels like coal, gas, and oil. We believe that Minnesotans should invest that money locally in construction and infrastructure that benefits our economy.

About Us:

Innovative Power Systems was founded in 1991 by Ralph Jacobson with the simple goal of helping customers save money and the environment. Since that time we’ve completed over 1,000 renewable projects and solidified our spot as a Top US Solar Contractor (Solar Power World Magazine). The Minnesota Solar Energy Industries Association recently recognized Ralph with that organization’s first Lifetime Achievement Award, a group he co-founded in 2007.

Community Commitments:
Pollinator Pledge Participant
Dedication to Community:
Innovative Power Systems was the first solar installer in the state to organize community solar projects. We provided and installed the community solar electric systems at Izzy's Ice Cream and Linden Hills Co-Op. In addition, Innovative Power Systems worked with the Southeast Como neighborhood group to organize a bulk purchase program in which more than 20 solar thermal systems were installed.
