As participants of the 2015 Milwaukee East Side Group Buy sponsored by the MREA, Shorewood, WI residents, Steve and Lorna Cupery decided to add solar to their detached garage roof, in anticipation of having the plug in for their electric vehicle (EV), as well as providing power for their home.
Shorewood had a conditional use permit process that required the installer, Arch Electric, to attend a meeting to explain to the village that the solar installation would be aestheticly pleasing and unobstrusive to any neighbors. The permit was issued, and the installation went together without a hitch.
Today, Steve and Lorna enjoy many days of solar energy production, which they are able to monitor from their remote locations when not home.
The following is a testimonial written by Steve:
"Arch Electric installed a 14 panel micro inverter solar PV array on our south facing detached garage roof in December of 2015. They ran the electrical connections underground between the roof and our home. The micro inverters used provide greater panel productivity and permit us to see and record the daily power generation of each panel and the total array from our computers or smart phones. They also did additional electrical work for us and in both cases their work was excellent, their customer relations superb, and each step was completed on time as promised.
Arch electric also worked with us to secure black on black panels that matched the color scheme of our brown and black roof shingles. The work was completed in December, and the output of our panels is working as estimated. We are very appreciative of their services."
