Project Description:

MCPA Community Solar offers coop members a simple and affordable way to participate in solar generation without having to construct and maintain their own array. McLeod Co-op Power’s Solar Community allows members to buy into the project today, and receive electric bill credits for years to come, based on the output of the system. By agreeing to purchase the output of one or more panels, members are effectively locking in today’s electric rate for the community solar portion of their MCPA electric bill for the next 20 years. Through the Community Solar Project, members can also benefit from the production of solar: (1) Even if member’s home or business is not a good site for solar production. (2) Even if member rents their home or business. (3) Without installing equipment on their property. (4) Without worrying about maintenance or repair costs. (5) Without extra insurance costs. (6) Without the personal responsibility of meeting and maintaining the Minnesota interconnection requirements when selling power back onto the grid.
