The City of Minneapolis is committed to citywide economic opportunity, social equality, and environmental health. Sustainability means balancing those concerns in the present without sacrificing future generations’ ability to meet their own needs. In order to track progress towards a truly sustainable community, the City has adopted 26 specific sustainability indicators. Tracking these indicators allow us to see how far the community has come—and what work remains—in creating a city where residents, workers, businesses, and visitors all enjoy a high quality of life. Through this data-driven approach, we understand how our actions and behaviors can improve our city today and long into the future. We’re also working with neighborhoods on community solar garden education.
